Norman Steisel Served As New York City Sanitation Commissioner

He served as Commissioner of Sanitation in NYC from 1979 – 1986. Norman Steisel was accountable for overall management of the $600 million enterprise. He distinguished himself by introducing many productivity initiatives. His leadership as Sanitation Commissioner was manifested by ambitious, resourceful decisions that succeeded in energizing the Sanitation Department while saving New York City millions of dollars.
